Here is a great question I was asked on Instagram and I thought it was a perfect first post in this section.
It was from @louisduplessis_0609
Does any of my dwc grower friends have any tips for Louis getting him on the right track solving his reoccurring problem?
I love seeing your plants grow! And you seem a well seasoned deep water culture grower to say the least 😅 I've been trying a couple deep water runs myself the last two years. However I keep running in to what at first I thought was root rot and then after being thorough and elimating all the usual. My system was completely light proof, I had good oxygen and airation, good water, good water temperatures, and I thoroughly cleaned all my equipment with peroxide and alcohol and I still got this slimy stuff which eventually went a little brown.
I've just started a new grow a couple months after all of the above I've got a chance to grow again. My plants are about 2 weeks old now and the roots popped through last week. This same slime has now appeared again! I wanted to know have you had any encounters with this, is it even kind of a little normal?
How often do u check ur ph? I check it every day from now on. Today I looked at my smaller plant in dwc, had brown slime on my roots, checked the PH, it was at around 7 😱😱 the other plant in dwc was to low on PH and didn't have slime on the Root's 🤔
